Small PC Mailday

This weekend, I will be going away, but before I go I thought I would share a small PC mailday. I got one lonely package yesterday, but it was a nice one. This package came from a trade on Beckett where I traded away some Allen and Ginter singles for these...

The highlights of this trade are the Upper Deck X memorabelia card and the 2003 Bowman Draft refractor rookie. The top two cards are serial numbered to 1350 and 300 respectively. The rest of the package was Youkilis base, which I didn't scan. In adition to this, I bought a Kevin Youkilis cyan mini printing plate from 2011 Gypsy Queen. That should arrive in a week or so. Finally, I hope to stop at a card store this weekend, so hopefully I will find something cool there to post about.

8 Golden Giveaway Codes (Die Cut)

I got 9 new Golden Giveaway codes today. It turns out, the trader sent them to me a week ago, but I just found them now and I feel really stupid. I redeemed the codes and got the usual assortment of coins and whatnot, but unfortunately one of the codes wasn't working. I sent them a PM, so I'm sure it was just a typo. From the coins, I was able to get 2 free codes because I reached 3 team coins, and 3 HOF coins. So bascically I ended up with a bunch of virtual coins, and this...

A Clayton Kershaw Golden Moments Die Cut! All in all, I would say I did pretty well. I wasn't expecting to unlock any cards, so that was a nice bonus plus I will still have another code. Cards are only unlocked 1 in every 15 codes. So, for 8 codes, I beat the odds. Hopefully I will have the next code soon.

2 Golden Giveaway Codes

I got two of my 11 Golden Giveaway codes I traded for today, so I went ahead and redeemed them. I traded for these mainly to test a theory I have about a glitch in my account, but I also would mind getting a nice die cut or one of the 1/1 gold chunk cards. The first code got me a Washington Nationals team coin.

Definately not the best team coin to get, but whatever. This is my second team coin, so I didn't qualify for any prize or anything. So, I typed in the second code and got a Nolan Ryan legends coin.

This is my first legend coin, so again no prizes. Unfortunately I didn't unlock any cards, but I was kind of expecting this to happen. Keep an eye out for the other nine codes that I will post in the next couple of days.

New Treasures Added to Golden Giveaway

Earlier this week, Topps announced that it will be adding new treasures to be found in the Golden Giveaway. Effective as of now, rookie phenoms Yu Darvish and Yoenis Cespedes will be added to the Golden Moments Die Cut set. These cards will be avialable in the standard gold, and 1/1 gold peice parelels in adition to a new autographed version.

No word yet whether the autographs will be stickers or on card, but each player will have just 25 copies of the autographed version. These cards are sure to be hot just like the players themselves. Darvish is curently 1-0 after two starts with a 4.76 ERA while Cespedes has belted 3 homers and knocked in 7 RBIs.

These cards are sure to drive up the prices of Golden Giveaway codes, so get them before the price goes through the roof. I personally have 11 coming in that I will recap in my next post. Good luck to anyone chasing these rare Golden Givaway cards!

Vacation LCS!

Hey, everyone. So, it's been a while since I've last posted. Nonetheless, I have been very busy but have also made time to go on vacation to Florida for the next week! I'll be taking a trip to the LCS in the Sarasota area called "The Catcher's Mitt", and later on I'll be sure to do a review, and post the haul. Also, I'd like to try to compare it to other card stores I've visited before. I'm hoping that because I'm so far from Massachusetts I might find some Red Sox cards on the cheap, but knowing the luck I have that probably won't happen.
I ripped a Hobby pack of 2012 Topps the other day for Easter, and I would say the highlight was a dual "Timeless Talents" card of Edgar Martinez and David Ortiz highlighting the best DH's of all time. It was pretty neat, and obviously a welcome addition to my Red Sox PC. I'm hoping, if time allows, to take a tour of the Red Sox new Spring Training Facility "JetBlue Park", and maybe catch an Extended Spring Training game (Carl Crawford, Andrew Miller, and Rich Hill are still down here for that!). I might do video break when I get home, but don't hold your breath because I'll probably just post mobile photos (no scanner in Florida). Also, be sure to check out the Panini website soon, because our blog is going to be added to their blogroll! Pretty exciting news!

2012 Topps Museum Collection

2012 Topps Museum Collection is live and I am loving it. I am going to have to get a box of this stuff because it is nasty. The patches are much better in this year's version and I love the design. The deign reminds me of a mid 2000's Upper Deck like product. This year, there are four packs per box with one with one hit per pack. The hits include quad relics, archival autographs, jumbo jerseys, and jumbo bats. Chase cards include rare cut signatures, booklets, and "Museum Collection" autographs.

This is a preview image of what this year's Museum Collection autos look like. I think they are cool, but I think last year's design was much better. I was fortunate enough to pull one last year out of my one box of Marquee.

The thing I don't like about this year's is the different color variations. I would prefer if they did one gold version numbered to ten like last year. I think the black defeats the purpose of having a metal frame. I also just dislike the general design. Perhaps they look better in person because even though last year's look great in photo form, they look much cooler in person. Other than this, I think the other designs are a huge upgrade from last year.
