Red Sox...sore subject...

Francona's getting his contract "terminated" and the Red Sox just died in September. A nine game lead means nothing apparently. I just don't want to talk about it.

Card Parodies

Have you ever noticed how clever come people are with card parodys? Really, this is pretty freakin genius! Hell, there was even a whole SET of parody cards called CardToons, a 1990's-era card parody line of the names and teams of major league baseball players.

This one below has to be my favoerite CardToon. End of story...

Meg, Who Let You Back In The House?

As you can tell, we here at TPP really like Family Guy references. This video really has nothing to do with this post other than he fact that Leaf has released Family Guy cards, each box coming with a complete set of base cards and several "Quoteables" and an autograph, though as it stands now many boxes are "Hot Boxes".

Also, I will never understand Topps. Ever. They suck all year with releases and then finally they release a set that people enjoy (Marquee)and they make it so you could either hit the jackpot or go home with absolute crap. Why not make all the boxes halfway decent? This is...ridiculous

Rainbows and Ponies and Stickers and Myspace.com

First off, If you are concerned about the title, you obviously don't watch enough Family Guy. Anyways, here is another card for my rainbow, the Sepia parellel /99. I am not sure if I like the Sepia's but I will make that judgement when I receive it.

Start of a New Rainbow???

Yes it is!!! I have a base, refractor, atomic refractor, and black refractor coming in the mail too. This year's set is nice with the new parellels, and cards that aren't bowed. I have also noiced that the centering is better!

A "Marquee" Pickup

As many of you know, 2011 Topps Marquee was released earlier this week, and has been getting mixed reviews. It seems like a really high risk product because you either end up with $20 worth of cards, or $1000 worth of cards. Some of the nicer hits include the nasty patch and jumbo patch cards, as well as the museum collection autographs. The museum collection autographs are framed in a gold colored metal and numbered to ten. They are very thick and heavy, but are some of the nicest looking autographs of all time (of corse Youk didn't get one). They are selling for incredibly high amounts, but are actually expected to grow in value. Anyways, I have picked up two cards from the product so far, and here is one of them. I will show off the other when I get in in the mail later this week. It appears to be a really nice card with three white jersey swatches, and one two color patch. Enjoy...

Moneyball Movie

Hey, everyone. Sorry neither of us has posted in a little while. We've had school, family commitments, etc. I just wanted to say the the new movie coming out based on the Billy Beane book "Moneyball" looks really interesting. It stars Brad Pitt and Jonah Hill as Billy Beane and his assistant, making an unlikely acting pair a great team. The movie features roles of players of the era such as Scott Hatteburg, and the action from the trailer looks very realistic. The soundtrack for the movie is the catchy AC/DC song, Moneytalks.

Cardboard Adventure: Final Segment

So I found an advertisemant for a yard sale that had baseball cards. I decided to go and check it out. He had some sets, and singles mostly from the 70's of all sports. For $5 I bought a sealed set of 1989 Bowman, which had a Ken Griffey Jr. rookie in it. I saw some stars from the 70's, but one card caught my eye. In the bunch of 70's cards, I saw a 1958 Topps Card. Can you guess who it was? The price was $3.00. Scroll down to find out...

BV= $100. I took it to the card store, and it is authentic. It looks alot better in person.
