My First Logoman!!!

The logoman is the Rolls Royce of relic cards, and are very rare finds.  A couple of weeks ago, I bought my first ever logo man.  Surprisingly, it is numbered 4/4, however it is still quite rare.  This card is the 2nd Youkilis logoman I have ever seen, and the first one went for way more than I could afford.  This time, I didn't think I could afford it, but I threw up a what the heck bid and ended up winning.  I though for sure that I would be snipped.

I am thrilled to have this in my collectionbecause it it my first logoman, but also because it completes a rainbow.  I think I would consider this a rainbow, but if you have a different opinion, please share it below.

Even if its not a rainbow, they still look nice together.  Thanks for the read, and look forward to my next mailday which is a prize from a contest I won.

Recent Pickups + Favorite Player Interactions

Hey, everyone. I know that neither 20youk or myself have posted on the blog recently. That's just because we've both been so busy! However, while on vacation, I went to the previously-highlighted Chris's Sportscards & Comics. Got some A&G, a pack of Topps Platinum, some Pedroia PC pickups, a Jackie Bradley Jr. Bowman prospects card, some sweet dollar packs from previous years, and a partridge in a pear tree (only kidding). I'll have those scans up by thursday at the latest.

Finding topics to blog about in relation to sports cards isn't always easy, so if any of the readers and followers really enjoy something or have any feedback, or even have any ideas or suggestions, it would be great to hear from you.

Another thing I would like to hear from you guys about is some stories about your favorite, best, or even worst player interactions. In the next week or so, expect to see a post or two from the both of us discussing our favorite and/or leats favorite interactions.

That's pretty much it for now. Thanks, everyone.

Risky Auction Leads To SUPER Mailday!

I buy a lot of cards on eBay, but one thing I never do is buy something without a picture.  One week ago, I broke my number one rule and bought a card without a picture.  The thing is, it wasn't just a low end card.   It was a $100 SUPERFRACTOR.  The reason I bought it was because I may never see it surface again (this is the second time this particular card hit eBay, the first back in 2009).  The seller had perfect feedback and doesn't live too far away from me.  So I ended up buying and if I got screwed, I could just get my money back through paypal.  As it turns out, I was worried over nothing because I got the card in the mail today!

2009 Bowman Chrome Kevin Youkilis Superfractor 1/1
I think it scanned pretty well besides the dust on the scanner, but I didn't want to handle the card too much while it was out of the toploader.  Anyways, pretty cool card.  By the way, the second mailday I hinted at in my last post is better than this, so I hope you guys will like it as much as I do.

Mike Trout Is The Real Deal

Hey everyone, just got back from vacation so I haven't had any recent mailday, but I do have an interesting post for you.  I am by no means a prospector, but back in the day I busted a few boxes of Bowman.  I will give you a hint by saying that I did open a box of 2009 Bowman Draft.  Yes, I did pull a Trout which at the time was selling for only $30.

(scratches on toploader)

Just yesterday, I saw another copy of this card sell for over $500 in an eBay auction.  Boy am I glad I held onto this card.  I will hold onto this card no matter what, even if it rapidly decreases in value.  When I buy hobby boxes, I never trade the hits no matter what.  I am glad I did that because Mike Trout is the real deal and I think is a lock for Rookie of the Year, maybe with MVP consideration.  He is already an All Star and he will be for years to come.  If you are hoarding Trout cards, check Beckett because his book values practically doubled overnight.  Also, be on the lookout because I have two great maildays coming up with super high end cards.

Mailday and PC Update

Hey everyone, the reason that I haven't been able to post in a while is because I went to Puerto Rico for a week.  I did get a couple packages but for now, I have only scanned one.  The second one is a really cool card, but it doesn't scan well for some reason, so I will have to figure that out.  Anyways, here is the one I could scan, a 2012 Topps Tribute Kevin Youkilis patch 2/10.

Nice card and I am glad to have it in my PC.  Now for the PC update.  By now, you are thinking why hasn't he mentioned that Youk got traded yet?  Well, I do know that he got traded, however, he is still my favorite player and I will continue to collect him in any uniform.  I am looking forward to getting some of his new White Sox cards.  Unfortunately, I missed the Red Sox fan Youk purge but I am still going to pick up some more of his stuff.  If there are any Sox fans looking to get rid of their Kevin Youkilis cards, I will gladly take them off of your hands.

PS- I find it funny that my user name, 20youksox, is still appropriate because he is on the White Sox and he kept his number.

Goodbye, Kevin Youkilis.

What an emotional day today has been for me as a Red Sox fan. Today, Red Sox Nation witnessed the end of the Youk Era in Boston. Kevin Youkilis started today for the Red Sox during their 1 PM showdown against Atlanta. The story, though, is that he was about to go to the on-deck circle when he was told by manager Bobby Valentine that Ben Cherrington (GM of the Red Sox) had informed him that a "situation" was pending, obviously referring to a trade. Youkilis followed that by telling his teammates. The Sox did his sendoff right. Youkilis came up to bat, and I honestly feel that by the Grace of God the Boston fans knew it was quite possibly his last at-bat in the Red Sox uniform. He tipped his helmet to a standing ovation, and in usual Youk-style he found an obscure way to get on base: a triple. He was relieved for a pinch-runner, and this is where the tears started. The BEST standing ovation I have ever seen at Fenway Park ensued. He waved to the crowd, cried, blew kisses, everything you could think of. He went down the dugout tunnel, and then came back out AGAIN (teammates pleading) to a louder standing ovation. And that was it. After the game, his locker was empty. Chicago, the White Sox just aquired a fine teammate, man, and athlete: give him the respect and love he deserves.

NHL Awards

Hey guys, I don't usually post too much hockey, but after watching the NHL Awards last night I had to post this.  Many of you have seen Brendan Shanahan's player safety videos over the course of the season.  Anyways, you should check out his newest videos.

Hope you enjoyed that, and congrats to Patrice Bergeron for winning the Selke Trophy!
